The Tallula Lone Mountain Turquoise & Spiny Oyster Bracelet with June Moon Balloon Dog Charm
The Tallula Lone Mountain Turquoise & Spiny Oyster Bracelet with June Moon Balloon Dog Charm
I loved designing this bracelet! The materials came from my favorite Southwestern gem dealer, Sunlight Silver, who sources me with the finest Lone Mountain Turquoise around. That's what you'll find in between spongy-looking spiny oyster beads, from the same dealer. Spiny oyster is so cool, because each bead is so different from the next one - they have a smooth surface on one side and a spongy-looking design on the other. And can we just talk about the color combo for one sec? How Southwest can you get, with authentic Lone Mountain turquoise and Spiny Oyster?! Given the Southwest's funky vibe, I just had to pair it with our iconic gold filled June Moon Balloon Dog charm. The perfect bracelet to wear while walking down in the Santa Fe arts district (or just dreaming you were!). :)
All of the materials used in this handcrafted, one-of-a-kind piece are genuine and high-quality. The gold will not tarnish, and most importantly, the minerals are real and from the earth. They are special and the reason this piece exists: to celebrate the intersection of nature and design.
Stones
Spiny Oyster is harvested by hand in the Sea of Cortez in Mexico and has been used in Zuni, Pueblo, and Navajo jewelry for centuries. Sunlight Silver notes that archaeologists have found pieces made with spiny oyster that date back as far as 6,000 BCE. In meditation, Spiny Oyster is used to manifest protection and strength. Turquoise is a Favorite gemstone, present in many of my designs. It's is a cryptocrystalline mineral, forming in large masses or nuggets, with a waxy to sub-vitreous (almost shiny) luster. The blue-green hues are produced through idiochromatic copper and iron impurities. A fragile and high-needs mineral, turquoise should always be wiped clean after wear and kept out of the sunlight for extended periods of time.
