A New Moon

Greetings, Friends!

Welcome to the June Moon Blog. We have some fun things planned for this space, where we can engage around design and nature. We'll have fun product updates of course, but we'll also highlight plant care and design tips, and some really fun field trips that will bring all of us inspiration.

I created June Moon Homescapes, because of my love for home design. I can't tell you how long I've wanted to own a home. Just last year, my husband and I made that dream happen, and the floodgates opened - we built a house. My, what an education that can be! I'll say, James and I were luckier than most and the process was fairly painless. But what I learned was - not only did I love design, I was good at it too. Our house was the last built in the neighborhood to allow customizations, and by the time our house had been built, the developers had begun using materials I selected for our house on the rest of the planned developments.

Among the many lessons I've learned along this journey, the most valuable has been that good design does not have to be expensive - not anymore. There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of manufacturers of good quality pieces now, when there were far fewer just ten years ago. That allows us all to live in world of possibility - so many styles, choices, and influences. Many of these manufacturers are starting to make environmental sustainability and fair wage commitments. Many are led by fellow design geeks who champion the tenants of good design. All of these elements have taken us to an era where we can source quality items in nearly any style, at fair prices for our customers.

But all of that choice and availability can sometimes be overwhelming. It's quite something to look at a list of accent chairs on Google, particularly when you need just the perfect one! That's why I decided to create June Moon Homescapes. Here, we use both environmental and human influences to imagine pieces in a personal space, making careful curatorial decisions to build out our collections. Here, you'll discover a beautiful set of pieces that all work with one another to help you tell your personal story. We value not only design, but the quality of the materials - we prioritize as many natural elements as possible, such as solid wood, natural fibers, plants, crystals, and metals. We even offer a few vegan items. And when we include products with synthetic materials, we do so for a reason and ensure the materials are of the best available quality.

I am excited to share my collections with you: In the Garden, Around the House, and On the Patio. The shop is essentially half home decor, half houseplant nursery, which maximizes the opportunity for you to incorporate natural elements across your indoor landscape. I can't wait for you to take a look at the absolutely stunning top-grain leather sofa, that would showstop any Mid-Century, Scandi, Craftsman, or Spanish-Revival living room - just as I can't wait for you to see the Polka Dot Begonia 'Maculata,' with its sword-shaped, dark green leaves and prominent white polka dots. Place that on the coffee table, and you'll never have to start a conversation again.

When we began designing this company, I said that I would not put anything in my store that I wouldn't put in my own home. I stand by that statement, because I want others to be as in love with their homes as I am with mine. So, if you want to let me know anything about your purchase, good or bad - please send me an email. My product list is constantly evolving, and your feedback helps me look for the pieces you'll love. That's the value of June Moon Homescapes.

Thanks for joining the June Moon community, friend. I am glad you're here and so excited to share our story, our store, and our journey forward with you.
